When they first arrive, international students are evaluated for their language skills by the La
Roche Department of Modern Languages staff. Students who need language-instruction support are
placed in an intensive study of English as a Second Language before they begin participating in the
main stream academic courses.
International students also may participate in the Conversation Partner Program, which pairs them up
with Americans as a way to sharpen their verbal skills and exchange cultural information.
Pacem In Terris staff and the Department for Academic Advising and Career Planning help
international students with class registration.
Tutorial services and supplemental instruction are provided through the Department of Academic
Enrichment for students who need additional assistance with their classwork.
Once a student declares a major, he/she receives an academic advisor in his/her field who provides
one-on-one support and who monitors the student's academic success.
Pacem In Terris staff, college faculty members, and families in the community participate in this program which gives international students the opportunity to interact with American families and to observe firsthand their customs and culture.
